Mental health and its concerns are the most misunderstood terms of our time. They are also feared and stigmatized by society due to lack of knowledge and research. But the truth is that mental health issues are more common than we realize. In fact, 1 in 5 adults, experiences a mental health condition every year. And a 1 in 20 individual, lives with a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Also, globally, more than 350 million people experience depression alone. So, as you can see, this condition isn’t very unlike physical illness. There are all kinds of mental health conditions, with varying degrees of seriousness, and we are all just as vulnerable. It’s just as normal to have a mental health condition as it is to have the flu or cold or a condition like diabetes which require long-term attention and lifestyle changes. And just as there are practices that can keep you physically fit and active, there are also practices that can keep your mind healthy. Our Foundation focuses on youth dealing with these issues and the resource management to channelize proper assistance.
